919 Marketing Company, a top ten Triangle area marketing consulting and public relations firm, announced today the addition of another nonprofit organization to their already prestigious client list. Operation American Spirit (www.operationamericanspirit.org), founded earlier this year by Emmy-nominated actor Jack Scalia, of ‘Dallas’ and ‘All My Children’ fame, provides support to severely wounded veterans and their families from Iraq and Afghanistan. 919 Marketing Company will spearhead strategic public relations efforts for the Calabasas, California-based organization.
Scalia says that 919 Marketing’s experience in the nonprofit arena and proven track record of success are the reasons he selected a North Carolina-based company for his west coast foundation. 919 is currently the agency of record for the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes (CSAH), the leading nonprofit providing assistance to severely wounded and disabled veterans from the War on Terror. CSAH has partnered with Operation American Spirit for its inaugural fundraising event, a 16-day 1,500 mile bicycle ride led by Scalia, which kicked off in Seattle on September 22 and will conclude in San Diego on October 7.
Even a 919 team member will participate in the ride from San Francisco, through Los Angeles and into San Diego.
‘I founded Operation American Spirit because as Americans, we owe it to our combat wounded to give back to them in the same manner that they sacrificed for us. The inaugural bike ride event is a perfect example of that,’ said Jack Scalia, founder of Operation American Spirit. ‘919 Marketing has done outstanding work for the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes, generating over 300,000,000 impressions in just one year, so I knew their team has what it takes to generate high visibility for Operation American Spirit.’
Many other celebrities, athletes and politicians are lending their support to the cause including Jessica Biel, Gary Sinise, Bruce Willis, Jack Kemp, Kurt Russell, Mike Vogel, Karri Turner, Lee Ermey, Jon Voight, Tim Allen, Rick Dees, Mary Hart, Mariel Hemingway, James Cromwell, Mary Bono, Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, and Olympic gold medalist Quincy Watts.
‘Hollywood is taking notice to the needs of severely wounded troops from the current conflicts overseas, and lending their support to raise awareness about the battles these families are fighting on the home front. The heavyweight star power behind Operation American Spirit is clear proof of that,’ says David Chapman, founder and CEO of 919 Marketing. ‘919 Marketing is proud to be working with Jack Scalia, to develop a strategic media campaign that leverages this celebrity support to drive awareness of and donations to Operation American Spirit.’
Emmy award-nominated actor Jack Scalia has starred in 13 television series and is best known for his roles on soap operas ‘Dallas’ and ‘All My Children’. Most recently, he appeared in the movies, ‘Red Eye’ by Wes Craven and ‘End Game’ opposite Cuba Gooding, Jr. and James Woods. Scalia, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., was selected by the Montreal Expos as a pitcher (the third overall selection) in the 1971 Major League Baseball draft. He went on to become a high-profile model with Ford Modeling Agency, becoming known as the popular ‘Jordache Jeans Man.’ Scalia is fluent in Italian and Spanish. Scalia has always been involved in athletics ‘ he has completed six marathons and four triathlons. He began bicycling and has trained for four months for the Operation American Spirit ride.
