Last year some Golden Corral restaurants tested the theory that Christmas lights and festive decorations would provide the gift of an increase in seals. And it worked! The locations with lights earned 5 percent more than Scrooge restaurants that didn’t show their holiday spirit.
“I was visiting one of our Golden Corral franchise restaurants in Sacramento, and it was dark and it was during the holiday season. I turned around the corner to go visit the restaurant and it was lit up, well, like a Christmas tree. And I was tickled by it, I thought, ‘oh man, the street presence, what a great idea!’ ”
